Technique features

In this task I shell talk about one TV show and I will go into depth about 2 camera shots, camera movements, sounds and three editing techniques. The show that I have decided to talk about is the big bang theory and the genre of the big theory is a sitcom.

The big bang theory first aired in September 24, 2007. In the big bang theory you can hear the back stage of an audience laughing. This is also used repeatedly in other sitcom TV shows.  The audience laughing is none diegetic sound which only the audience can hear and not the characters. This is so the audience can laugh with the sound given off in a scene. This is only to affect the audience and not the character in anyone. This sound is also used to influence the audience to laugh.  The big bang theory has editing techniques such as cut and paste. Cut and paste can be used to show a different angle of a scene while two or more people are talking to each other.

One of the best things the big bang theory is good at his using camera technique between two or more people having a conversation. At first you see the camera focused on the door of the store. Then Sheldon and his friend’s enter the store and the camera slowly moves back getting a better look at the store just slightly. Camera also starts with a long shot and then turns to a medium focusing nothing but the character them self’s after that. They would keep switching back and fourth with no movement what so ever. This is clearly shown when both when Sheldon and Amy are talking and facing each other. This scene uses an eye level shot as you can almost see the characters whole body. This camera shot was used at a great time, as it’s two people meeting each other along with meeting a new character that you’ve never seen before in the big bang. This camera shot makes the character look down to earth and get to know what kind of person she is. You can also feel sense awkwardness in this scene.  As everyone meets new people it can be awkward some times the eyes camera shot represents that perfectly.

In this video the characters in the big bang theory get into an argument. This leads to one of the character getting mad and walking off stage blaming her hand on to the table and leaving the scene and slamming a down while done. This would be a digerati sound as the characters and the audiences can hear the effect. this effect the character as they are in a state of shock to what just happened and so can the audience. This would also be considered a close medium shot as everyone is sitting on the stable. But some people start walking out of the stage and the camera turns from medium shot to medium long shot.
