Unit 1 Type of producation

My idea for creating the four-minute movie was to base it off ghost movies such as Grudge, The ring and The shutter which I have watched enjoyed. So my idea was to base of my short 4 minutes film off these movies as they hold strong elements of the horror genre. My first place was to get my team to watch one of the movies so they get some sort of idea how the atmosphere of the short film should be.

I knew straight away that I wanted to make my main genre horror along with mystery and psychological. So the short four-minute movie was a hybrid genre of horror and mystery put together in 1 movie. I chose these two genres, as I wanted my audience to engage as much as possible while watch the movie. This is because mystery makes most of the audience want to guess what’s happening. The psychological genre of the movie is to make the audience think long and hard about the movie and it's meaning long after the audience has finished watching it. The horror genre is to build up suspense during the movie making the audience feel terrified at certain scenes.

I also choice these themes of horror as I would like to get a better understanding of the genres as these genres are my least favorites out of all the others genres.

A disadvantage of this is that it may not appeal to people that hate horror movies that are horror.  So it might not appeal to people that are young and not mature enough as they might not understand the psychological part of the movie. An advantage is that with psychological movies they’re always some kind of hidden message and most of the times more then one meaning. The audience can interpret the meaning of the movie any way they want once they have fully watched the movie.

The type of camera styles I might use are different kind of camera angles such as tilted camera to use in the psychological genre of the movie as a character could be traumatized. I would also use extreme camera close ups for jumps scares, as it is has a horror theme scaring the audience even more and it would be unexpected.
